"How to de-boss a bossy mare and how can I fix the "hard to catch" thing?"

Dear Keith...
Friday, February 9, 2007
Hi, my husband and I have recently moved where we can have horses. I grew up riding and have always had a love for horses. We have had this mare for about 6 months and she's a "bossy" one! I have a 14yr arab mare and her 2yr old gelding .... this arab/morgan came last but she's THE BOSS!! When we first got her she'd take bites out of the gelding! He had some good marks on him! That has lessoned some what. He finnally learned to get
outta the way...but she lays those ears back and looks mean. She's fine when saddled, totally different horse. BUT she's hard to catch. Those are my questions:
1. how to de-boss a bossy mare and
2. how can I fix the "hard to catch" thing?
She's a good horse to ride, she minds well and is very gentle when riding her.
THANKS, Char |
