"I have a 5 year-old mare that throws her head whenever I bump her with my legs"

Dear Keith...

Sunday, March 26, 2006

Hi. I have a 5 year-old mare that throws her head whenever I bump her with my legs while I am riding her to get her to go faster. What can I do to stop her from doing this. Please write back. Thanks.

Hi and thanks for your email. While I can’t give advice via the internet for a horse I’ve never seen, I can suggest that you find a John Lyons trainer in your area and/or attend one of our clinics. You can find a list of our upcoming clinics here on my site: http://horsemanship101.com/John-Lyons-Trainer-Clinics/Where-and-When.html and a list of trainers that might be local to you here, also on my site: http://horsemanship101.com/John-Lyons-Trainer-Links/John-Lyons-Trainers-US.html. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Keith

Hi. Thanks for the e-mail. We figured out that the reason why she would throw her head when I was riding her, was because of the bit she had, so we changed the bit, and now she's excellent, and no longer throws her head. Thanks again!
