"My gelding attacked and killed a geriatric mare"

Dear Keith...

Dear Sirs:
I have had a terrible experience this weekend, my newly (one year ago) gelding arabian attacked and killed a geraitric mare. He apparently kicked her and bit her to the point of lacerations and hematomas. She was brought back to the barn and cared for where she later died. I am at a loss now for what to do. My horse (the arabian gelding) contracted EPM right after he was gelded two summers ago. He showed hardly any signs of stallion behavior but that was most likely the EPM masking his affect. People are suggesting that I put him down for his savage attack and I just need some more guidance.
Any ideas.
