Dear Keith...

Hi
I hope you can help me with a problem. Right now i do not have the money to pay a trainer but i need to do something. My husband bought a horse for himself. She is a quarter horse as far as we know she is a line back dun with zebra stripes on her legs. She is a very large and strong horse and I think she has gotten her way a lot. She will not come near us unless we have feed then she tries to stay away from us. My husband has been on her once she does not know how to neck rein and when we first put the saddle on her she has to be worked or she will buck. I know if we can just get her trained she will be a good horse. She is 10 years old and she will not load in a trailer very good we spent 2 hrs. Trying to get her in one when we first get her. She will follow our pony every where and will not go far from her. Is there something i can do so she can be ridden and more the horse we would like her to be? I did not know if you had a book or anything that might help. If you can shed any light I would appreciate it.
Thank you lisa |

This is called "The Clockwork Exercise" because you need to imagine four very large clocks, one underneath each of your horse's feet. When your horse moves any leg directly forward that leg is "stepping on twelve o'clock." When any leg moves...

"It's not a matter of "if" your horse spooks, it's "when." It's not a matter of how broke your horse is. Sooner or later it will see something that makes it spook. You can't control your environment so you can't blame your environment. If...

This exercise, Hip-Shoulder-Shoulder, has become a "classic" exercise for one very big reason: It gives you control of your horse's stop. Every horse-related problem you can think of comes down to "going and stopping." "I can't get my horse to...
